When I was asked to create Paris-theme gifts for a bride-to-be and her mother, I started with the Persimmon Dumpling Pouch pattern, designed by Sara Lawson for Sew Sweetness.
I enlarged the pattern by 20% and added an interior slip pocket to each toiletry bag. I changed up the zipper and, instead of having just one zipper pull, I added pretty double zipper pulls from Blue Calla Patterns. I also added a sweet charm to each of the toiletry bags.
For the front of these projects, I used “Ohh La La!” by Michel Design Works for Northcott Fabric and, for the back, I used “Wild Poppy” by Chong A Hwang for Timeless Treasures Fabrics . The interior is a grey twill.

These made a perfect mother-of-the-bride and bride gift for dear friends the morning of their special day. The Paris theme will remind them of previous travels together, and waking up in the morning to the same pouch is a lovely way for mother and daughter to remain connected in their separate homes as a new family generation takes hold. Carolyn was brilliant in helping us select materials for this custom project, from the lining right down to the “love” charm on the zipper pull. We couldn’t have been happier with the end result.
