Many of the one-of-a-kind accessories and bags that I create are custom-made. Some of them will be gifts and others will be used by the person who contacts me.

Here is a step-by-step guide to ordering a handcrafted bag, tote or zipper pouch for yourself or for someone you care about.

PS Sometimes, I am asked to keep a project a secret. I promise, that I never share pictures or descriptions of the projects I am working on until I know that it is “safe” to do so. If you are planning a surprise, I would love to help!

Step One ~ Anticipate!

1 Almost all of my custom-made accessories include a “handmade” label.

Think about how the custom-made accessory or bag will be used. Are you planning to use it when travelling? For evenings out? For every day? Will you want to be able to wipe the interior of your handcrafted accessory clean and/or use it to store food?

If you are ordering a custom-made handbag, will it be worn cross-body, over a shoulder, will it be used as a handbag or a clutch? How much space is required? Room for one phone? Or three?

Step Two – Imagine!

2 Time for a trip to Vegas, Baby!

Think about colours, textures and themes for the custom-made item. What time of year will be the handcrafted accessory be used? Where will it be used? How will it be used? Does the user have a favourite colour? Would you like the one-of-a-kind accessory to highlight a special interest, a place, a hobby, sport activity or atmosphere?

Step Three – Visualize

3 A rainbow of colours, celebrating you!

Explore fabric, faux leather and cork options while narrowing down the possibilities. At this stage, I often meet a client in person. I can also share photos via text or DMs or refer a prospective client to online catalogues.

Step Four Refine

Finalize your fabric choices and, if applicable, hardware choices. For the custom-made accessories that I create, I offer hardware and zippers in nickel/silver, gold, gunmetal and rainbow finishes. Which will coordinate best with your fabrics?

4 The key fob and detachable strap coordinate with this cork crossbody bag.

Step Five – Details, Details

Confirm all special requests – do you want a longer-than-standard strap? Or a shorter one? An extra strap? Do you prefer an interior zipper pocket rather than a slip pocket? Do you want a snap closure? A magnetic closure? A zipper closure? Would you like to add a coordinating key fob, change purse, tissue package cover or zipper pouch? If the custom-made accessory is going to hold a phone, a tablet or a laptop, what are the dimensions of your device?

Step Six – Finalize

Discuss arrangements for delivery, including timeline and payment.

This is always an exciting time for me. I look forward to surpassing your hopes for your custom-made accessory.

Thank you for visiting! I am looking forward to working with you to create a beautiful, functional, one-of-a-kind accessory for yourself or someone you love.

I have lived in Richmond, British Columbia for more than three decades. My home is located steps away from historic Steveston Village. My family and I live within walking distance of this beautiful pier and the many local businesses, community services, parks and museums located there.

Bespoke means specially made for a particular person.

I sew or think about sewing pretty much every day! It has been my go-to activity during the Covid-19 pandemic. I love working with a variety of fabrics, colours and textures.

As part of a worldwide effort to “sew for good,” I donate a portion of each Bespoke Bags Steveston sale to a local charity. I donate to Richmond Food Bank, Richmond Women’s Resource Centre, Richmond Christmas Fund, Richmond Family Place and other, similar, charities.

Some of my handcrafted bags and accessories are made-to-order and others are available for pick-up or mailing. I source fabrics from a variety of British Columbia shops. I mainly purchase fabric in the Lower Mainland but some of my fabric is picked up in the Okanagan, on Vancouver Island and in the Fraser Valley. I can never resist checking out an open fabric store. I will gladly work to find fabrics and hardware to match your dream project.

I hope you will take a few minutes to look around my website for inspiration. Then, please contact me to discuss the possibilities. Normally, I ask that you allow about six weeks for your project to be completed but I always do my best to accommodate rush requests.
